Seed2Feed: The Africa Challenge

Seed2Feed Foundation, the universities of Leiden, Delft and Erasmus Rotterdam and the World Horti Center have introduced an initiative to contribute to resolving food security issues in sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Together with a number of enterprises, knowledge institutions and development agencies we have prepared a joint agenda and method of approach for dealing with food security issues in the region.
  • The programme aims to execute local projects that will create and upscale economically viable and sustainable value chains for the vegetable sector. The initiative aims to reach areas close to the main urban districts of sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Supported by a multidisciplinary research and development programme.
  • Combined with training and hands-on support for local growers, access to local markets and access to finance.

Through business development that (in the long run) will lead to profitable business for local growers and business partners and Dutch agri-food related enterprises.
